Process Control Instrumentation
Process control instrumentation is used for monitoring and analysing odour, gas, emissions and pollution from process industries into the environment. Other process variables are level, pressure, temperature, humidity, flow, pH, force, speed, etc.
Sensors measure the output performance of devices being controlled and these measurements can be used to give feedback to input actuators that then make corrections to achieve desired performance.
What is process control instrumentation used for?
Instrumentation / control engineers work to improve:
What industries is it for?
In continuous production processes there is a combination of control engineering and chemical engineering disciplines. Industrial control systems achieve levels in the parameters above that could not be achieved just by manual control. It is implemented in industries such as oil refining, pulp and paper manufacturing, chemical processing and power generating plants, as well as many others.
