For more than 60 years, GfG has been committed to protecting people, industrial facilities and the environment by developing and manufacturing gas detection systems. With an extensive range of portable gas detectors and fixed gas detection systems, GfG can supply you with a selection of products for many applications and industries. Our scope also includes on-site service and advanced training courses.

What distinguishes us from other manufacturers

We are specialists for gas detection solutions, not generalists in safety. No one can be the best at everything, but if you focus on one thing, you can achieve excellence. We work hard to provide you with the best gas detection equipment available, so you can focus on your task without having to worry about the risks that gases can pose. Because of that we invest more heavily in research and development than any other company. Approximately 13% of our annual turnover is reinvested in basic research and the development of new sensors and devices.

A “never say no” approach

This includes finding solutions for customers whose requirements are not met by “off the shelf” products. We take pride in our longstanding cooperation with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), for example. For many years now, they have put their trust in GfG’s portable devices, which we optimized to adapt to the Singaporean climate and fulfill the special requirements for integration into the SCDF communication network.

The function test (bump test) and, if necessary, the adjustment must be carried out before each use of a portable gas detection device. To make these necessary measures simple and time-saving in accordance with DGUV information 213-056 (T021) and 213-057 (T023), we have developed the DS400 and DS404 docking stations for our G450, G460, G888 and G999 portable devices. Operation is done via the display and the keys of the inserted measuring device.

Function test and adjustment
If a switched-on gas detection device is inserted into the docking station, it is possible to select between function test and adjustment. During the bump test, checks of the alarms and response times, setting of the time and test interval, and storage of the data on an SD card (optional) are performed automatically within a maximum of 60 seconds. Before the adjustment, the zero point of the sensors is set under fresh air supply. Subsequently, the sensor sensitivity is readjusted with test gas. Depending on the device and the number of sensors, this process takes a maximum of four minutes. After each test and each adjustment, a feedback is given about the successful execution or possible errors.

Charging function
If a gas detection device that has been switched off is placed in the docking station, the charging process starts automatically. Once fully charged, the docking station switches to trickle charge to conserve the battery. The docking station is supplied with power via a 12-volt power supply unit.

Equipment and accessories
The DS400 and DS404 docking stations have an integrated pump to draw in test gas without pressure. A gas sampling fitting (optional) must be used for the test gas feed with a gas cylinder. The DS400 has one input for test gas (single gases or gas mixtures), the DS404 has four gas inputs. Both docking stations also provide two additional ports for zero gas or fresh air and exhaust gas. Several docking stations can be connected in series via the RS-485 ports or connected to a computer for data transfer. Documentation is provided on an SD card.
